Reduced discovery costs in the face of looming data volumes

The U.S. State Attorney General (AG) Office was faced with a significant volume of data for active state matters, with more pending, and the simultaneous need to cut costs.

Client solution

Epiq data specialists loaded the data into an Early Case Assessment workspace with only the metadata and extracted text; native views of the document were not included. The Epiq Case Insightstm team analyzed the data before it was loaded into the hosting platform, to reduce hosting costs.

Data analytics consultants from the Case Insights team performed an analysis on metadata trends and patterns to identify large trunches of irrelevant documents and cull the universe by 400K documents. By removing the noise, the client could train the AI model on a richer set of documents to get the results they needed quickly.

Why Epiq

Epiq was currently assisting this state’s AG office with several matters relating to third-party production. This is the third, back to back project working with this particular AG office.

Client Quote: “Thank you for identifying documents that are outside of the scope of our state AG claim.”
