Michael O’Connor Returns To Epiq As Senior Vice President Of Client Services For Class Action, Remediation, And Mass Tort Business Unit
NEW YORK – Dec. 16, 2024 – Michael O’Connor has re-joined Epiq as Senior Vice President of Client Services for Epiq’s Class Action, Remediation, and Mass Tort business unit to ensure consistent, superior standards across all communications, consulting, budget management, and project execution activities.
He leads a team of more than 300 project management professionals responsible for Epiq’s class action and mass tort settlement administration programs. O’Connor also oversees Epiq’s Canadian settlement administration business – the top provider of settlement administration services in that country.
O’Connor has successfully overseen thousands of settlement administration programs throughout his career. He served in leadership client services roles at Epiq from 2010 to 2022 and returned after serving as senior vice president of settlement services at Western Alliance Bank. After earning his law degree in 1997 and prior to joining Epiq, O’Connor was a class action trial lawyer and owner at Garvey Shubert Barer and associate attorney at Dunn Carney Allen Higgins & Tongue LLP.
“I’ve been an Epiq client and counselor,” O’Connor said. “Understanding the challenges faced by counsel during the claims administration process, I can prioritize to successfully effectuate the terms of the parties’ settlement agreement. We start with a clear, precise project management plan to provide a simple step-by-step roadmap to a successful outcome. We also secure all necessary staff support to manage the entire project and establish a solid claims administration process and technical infrastructure.”
A nationally recognized and award-winning thought leader in the settlement administration space, O’Connor is a frequent speaker on claims administration best practices. O’Connor also has been active serving as an executive sponsor for resource groups serving LGBTQIA+ employees and their allies at both Epiq and Western Alliance Bank, providing mentorship and building community within the organizations.
“I could not be more pleased to welcome Michael back to the Epiq team,” said Nicole Hamann, President of Epiq’s Class Action, Remediation, and Mass Tort business unit. “He has a unique perspective as a former Epiq client, and that client-centric lens has always informed Michael’s approach to customer service. I am confident in his leadership of our project management teams as we continue to provide quality execution in all facets of our business, from the smallest projects to the largest and most complex settlements in the world.”
