NEW YORK – April 6, 2021 — Epiq, a global technology-enabled leader to the legal industry and corporations, today announced that Epiq experts will be presenting at the Mass Torts Made Perfect Conference on topics like managing large mass tort client inventories, and the essential elements of effective class action settlements, in addition to sharing best practices. The conference will be held virtually April 13-15, 2021.
Mass tort expert and Vice President, Lea Morris will co-present on a panel entitled, “Getting your Mass in Gear: Managing Large Client Inventories”. Morris will discuss steps to prove a case, different strategies for managing a large mass tort case load, including ways to leverage technology and what to look for when selecting an industry partner to help you scale your practice.
“One of the most important things to remember when getting into mass torts is that each case still has to be treated like an individual case, because it is,” says Morris. “Firms must take the time needed to prove each case, just like they would in a single event case, but they must do so on a much larger scale. This dynamic creates unique challenges that must be planned to ensure all cases are handled appropriately.”
Nationally recognized claims administration experts Dawn McPherson and Michael O’Connor will also be presenting a session entitled “Essential Elements of Effective Class Action Settlements.” They will review the importance of consulting with an administrator and seven tips for ensuring a smooth settlement.
“Whilst there are many similarities between class actions and mass torts, the roles that administrators play in these cases vary widely,” said McPherson. “This panel will share the ways in which an administrator can help the parties navigate their options for effective settlement negotiations and provide attendees with the tools and tips they need to choose an administrator wisely.”
