Case Study
Streamlined information governance process leads to significant reduction in data and cost savings
- General
client need
Identify data related to a claim across 10 custodian sources
The client was previously using older in-house technology tools to search data. At the time of the request for data collection across 10 custodians, the client was migrating all mailboxes to Exchange Online. There was also a requirement for the clients outside counsel to review the data for relevance once exported.
why Epiq?
The client felt Epiq’s strong combination of eDiscovery and information governance expertise could bridge the gap between the client’s legal and IT teams.
Epiq solution
Microsoft Advanced eDiscovery and Relativity deliver documents on time, within budget
The dataset at collection point was in excess of 1.5 terabytes. Searching this amount of data would surpass the time and budget requirements set by the client. Due to this, the data was kept in Microsoft 365 and identification, processing and first pass review took place within Microsoft’s Advanced eDiscovery. Epiq identified data from all custodians’ mailboxes and OneDrive accounts, promoted all data into a review set (1M+ documents) and setup 50 searches for the client and outside counsel to test. This effort resulted in less than 5,000 responsive documents to review and export.
